This is a …., momma dear

There is an old German song where body parts have funny names.

When my kids were little, I’d play the ‘where is your nose?’ game with them.  They would point to their nose.  I would ask, “where is your eye?’  They would almost poke out and eye in response.

Once they learned the parts, I would mix up the game.  I would say, “This is my elbow.” and point to my knee.  They would laugh and say ‘no, that is your knee!”

I would then say, “This is my knee.’ and point to my hand.  And so on, creating lots of laughter.

I must have gotten this game from Gpa for today we played a variation of my silly game.

I was working on a project and didn’t want to look up how to spell a 3-syllable word.  So I turned to him and asked him if he knew how to spell it.  He shook his head no.  Then I asked him how to spell and alternative word that was only 2 syllables.  Again he shook his head no.  Then he said, “Too long.”

So I asked him to spell ‘cat’, he did. Then ‘hat’, he spelled ‘dog’.  Hmm.

I asked him how to spell – and pointed to his nose.  He spelled, ‘eye’.  I laughed!  Good a game.  I needed a break.  I pointed to his eye and asked him to spell it.  “m-o-u-t-h”. and so on, creating lots of laughter.

What games to you enjoy?
