Lillie Helps Out

In the midst of packing to go to California, Lillie watched Gpa while I ran errands.

And while I was out, he pee’d on the floor, then while sitting on the potty, tried to wipe his poopy butt.

Lillie was not happy.   The first thing she said to me when I got home was, “I am not ready for motherhood.”  Well, yes, motherhood includes poopy butts.

I’m glad she has figured that out.  Nothing like holding a new born and thinking, “I’m not ready for motherhood.”

One day she will be ready and hopefully have a great partner.  It’s easier if you have someone helping you but single parenting can work.

But I digress.

We will miss Lillie.  Though she has found a dog and brought home to keep Gpa and I company.  Is he her replacement?  I don’t think so.  Lillie is an original.

The dog is, too. He’s already got people calling to babysit!

I am glad for the time Lillie has spent with us but I’m even more excited to see what she does while she’s in LA.

Hope you are having a great day!

A Day of Signs

The day started with Gpa peeing on the floor in the kitchen.  Before I could get too upset, I realized I didn’t want to wake up Lillie.  And that all I had to do was throw a towel down to clean up the mess.  I am SO glad that is all he was doing.  That I was able to be calm about it is a good sign.

I am aware that it seems that Gpa is having a harder time swallowing.  So far it’s mostly liquids like water and his coffee. I’m watching to see if its other things like his sandwich or his soup.  I don’t think this is a good sign.

He ate a good lunch and morning snack.  A good sign.

He wasn’t too interested in dinner, sign, not so good.

But then at juggling class, he threw a ball back and forth with me and then later grabbed a ring and put it under his leg.  We’ll make a juggler out of him yet.

I’ve now gotten him ready for bed, but he’s not ready to go to bed.

Lillie has a little dog she wants us to meet.  So I guess we’ll stay up until they get here.  If the visit goes well, Gpa and I may foster him until Lillie gets into a situation where she can have him.

Cross your fingers!

Happy Birthday Aiden!

My 6-year-old granddaughter thinks school is out because of her friend’s birthday.  She’s going to be so disappointed when school doesn’t let out in May for her own birthday.

Gpa and I didn’t do much to celebrate anybodies birthday today.  I used to get more excited about days off, but now that I’m not working, it’s mostly another Monday.

The day was cloudy and a bit gloomy so we stayed in and chilled.

He found a rubber band.  I’m not sure from where. He spent quite a bit of time entertaining himself by stretching it across this walker, then securing his coffee cup to it.

It’s only 7pm and he’s already gone to bed.  I think it was because when he asked for a cup of coffee, he through the cup across the room at me.  He smiled at me like it was funny. I told him “No, I don’t fix coffee if you through something at me.”

I think I’ll go take a shower.  Oops, is that him I hear, now?

(it is!)

I hope everyone had a great Martin Luther King Jr day!

Entertaining Gpa

I got a yoga CD from the library.  I’ll have to tell you that watching me do yoga is very entertaining for Gpa!  Which is nice for both of us.  I do some self-care and he has something to laugh at.

Oh and I got a book with Chair yoga so Gpa better watch out tomorrow!  I’ll have him do stretches with me.

Hope you are having a great weekend!

My Son’s Impersonation

In October Gpa and I went to California to see John and his family.  The following is how John described the visit to  his sister via IM.  I was able to secure a copy.

Update on the Bag

Um,  he seems to have forgotten that he asked for a bag.  I found a burgundy clutch in the closet.  I asked him if he liked it.  No.

Later, I grabbed a black purse out of the closet and again, he told me no.

I think what he’s really missing is the compartment in the red walker.  He usually only has it when we are out and about.  But while we were in California, he had it 24×7.  He put all types of things in the walker.

1- evil guy pig from Toy Story

ALL the Jenga blocks

1 Zuzu pet

1 coffee cup

several plates

numerous pieces of silverware

1 Christmas ornament

And when I hear the top slam when we are out I know to check.  For I don’t want to get in trouble for shoplifting!

New Things to do and a Little Company

Went to the Chiropractor today.  It’s the last time for the accident.  I’ll go again in 6 weeks for a follow up and then do maintenance to keep back limber.

The doctor had a grandparent that lived to 99 and she’s had all sorts of good ideas.  So this year I’ve added trips to Ft. Worth Zoo, stay at The Nut House in Grandbury, walk around the square and then see the dinosaur tracks.

Oh also in Ft Worth, go to the science museum and let Gpa do the hands on stuff and see what’s showing on the Imax.

Let me know if you’d like to go to any of these as well.

Later a very good friend and her daughter came over.  Gpa really perks up when children are around.  They had a great time juggling with the scarves I got for class.

I love that my den is an artistic venue for performers of all sorts and ages.  It was a great show.

Wish you were here.

A Sense of Humor

Well a glass of wine with Lillie helped me to realize, I need to keep a sense of humor in this situation.

I had given Gpa some melatonin to aid in his sleep and he ended up staying up and watching a movie with us.  I went to bed before he did!

So I’m not sure how long it will take for the melatonin to start working. If it will.

At one point, Gpa got up to go to the bathroom.  I followed him to help him.  He looked at me and said he could go to the bathroom himself.

Then he sat down with his pants still up.  I laughed.

Now I just need to find the humor in all the choices he makes. That will be my challenge, cause when I catch him eating moldy grapes, I yell.

A Bag Like Mine

I took Gpa to the doctor today because he has the sniffles.  I used the clippers he got for Christmas and shaved off the goatee.

See how happy is is now:

Happy Gpa

Happy Gpa

On the way home, he noticed my purse and said I had a nice bag, he wants one like it.

I asked him what he will put in it and he said, “All sorts of things.”

I asked him if he cared what color and he said just like mine.

I guess I’ll be taking a trip to Target and get Gpa a maroon bag.

I’m looking forward to seeing just what things he’ll put in.

Family Hobby

I’ve noticed I spend some time each day watching for Gpa to breath when he is asleep.

I’ve caught 2 of my 3 children doing the same thing.  The other one have done it as well,  I just haven’t seen her do it yet.

I have also noticed that when waiting for Gpa to breath, one hold’s one’s breath.

So far it works.  I’m not sure what we’re going to do when it stops working.

I hope you had a great day.

We just hung out and held our breath.
