NOT Housebound

Gpa was around a lot longer than the bucket list.  I don’t know if he’s ever heard of it.

Here is a list of things Gpa has done in his life, I’ve only known him for about half of his life so the list is not complete.

1. First Chore – buckle and unbuckle the harness on the horse
2. Earned first money by bounty hunting, crows and their eggs
3. Go to college – first one in his family
4. Learn to play chess
5. Most unusual job – taxidermy
6. Marry the love of his life
7. Become a Daddy
8. Get MBA
9. Learn photography
10. Collect and tell jokes
11. Teach high school science
12. Drive a taxi in the summer
13. Build bookcase
14. Build dresser
15. Fly in an airplane
16. Take civil servant exam
17. Become a weatherman – do it for government for 33 years
18. Get a reel to reel
19. Oil paint
20. Correspond with daughter and granddaughters on tape
21. Build cabinets and all sorts of projects
22. Go to Hawaii
23. Teach oil painting
24. Make wooden cars – give them to kids in hospitals
25. Learn Ballroom dancing
26. Carve
27. Give wife Atari game.  She loves Donkey Kong!
28. Go to England
29. Teach grand-daughter to carve
30. Teach pre-college algebra
31. Square dance
32. Polka!  one if his favorites
33. Run 10k’s after reading Dr. Coopers book
34. Have 3 great-great grandchildren
35. Go to England again
36. Learn computer
37. Get a video camera
38. Make cancer pamphlet cubbyhole with index for hospital
39. Mail merge Christmas letter
40. Be married for almost 60 years!  Go Gpa and Gma!
41. Take care of wife and daughter until dying day
42. Fish for Salmon
43. Go to carving school in Austria
44. Teach retirees woodworking
45. Attend College 50th reunion. – Still going strong!
46. Video Great Grand son’s military graduation
47. Have 3 great-great-great grandchildren
48. Turn 100 – Woo Hoo!
49. Go to juggle class
50. Inspire others, especially me

These are just some of the things he has done in 100 years.  I am sure there are many things I don’t even know about.

I do know there are a few things he has talked about that hasn’t happened.  and I’m not sure they will happen.  I know they won’t happen because of his efforts.  One won’t happen because of his health, one won’t happen because of his loss of memory and the last because I won’t let him near the power tools.

1. Travel to China and see the great wall.

2. Write a children’s book about a man and his son’s travels around the world.  He was going to put science in it.

3. make and donate wooden cars to hospitals to all 50 states.

I would have to say, it’s been a very good run.
