Overall this was a great week. Got lots done at the garden and the rewards are beginning to come in. Loads of tomatoes, a couple of eggplant, okra and peppers. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with it all.
I have given a bag of the best tomatoes to my neighbor’s. ‘Oh you shouldn’t have,’ they said. But I could tell they were pleased to have home grown. And of course I should have, he’s been mowing the front yard for FREE!
Been getting ready for a cook out with a sing along. I talked two guys from the library into playing for us and then they countered with I should play my Uke at it too. So we’ve had one rehearsal and more planned.
One guy is going to ask his wife if she’ll sing and do the motions to songs like ‘Happy and You Know It’ and ‘Hokey Pokey’ we can’t since all our instruments keep our hands busy.
Even though Gpa is taking himself to the bathroom more at night. He really doesn’t know when he’s having a movement. (I wasn’t sure I was going to figure out how to put that delicately) He told me he was finished, stood up and started again. “SIT DOWN, SIT DOWN, SIT DOWN!” and it still took time for him to figure out what to do.
What a mess. It is times like this I come completely unglued. He tries to help by rubbing it out with his shoe. Nope, that makes it worse. And then he looks at me like what is my problem. Argh.
After I calm down, it’s hard to know I reacted that way, he can’t help it.
He did tell me this morning that he was going to pay me big money for dressing him so well. Then he told me he is going to pay me a penny a day. I told him I’d take it.
You know after a while those pennies add up.
I hope you had a great week and an even better weekend.

Laura, you are a great person for taking care of your Grandpa. Hang in there. I know it is not an easy task you have undertaken. Susan
Susan,
Thank you for your words of encouragement. I got a great nap on Sunday and am feeling much better.
The hardest thing is that the memory loss is so random. Some days, he’s very sharp and others he can’t respond to any request but to nod.
I hope you and yours are doing well.
